Resilience – the virtue of the Indian nation. But has this become its greatest weakness? We seem to have made a habit of moving on and re-emerging from the ashes. So much so, that we end up trampling upon the past.
What sense does it make to not stop in our tracks and mourn for the victims of a devastating bomb-blast? What kind of spirit is that, A spirit of apathy? Does it deserve to be saluted?
I hate to compare, but 9/11 is still a big deal in the US. But akshardham, Jama Masjid, Sarojini Nagar, Srinagar and, Mumbai do not get half the importance. Some may say that it was because the death toll was much higher. So are we ,god forbid, waiting for an attack of that magnitude to sit up and take notice?
Isnt the fact that our temples, mosques, markets and, transport system being targeted, reason enough to be enraged?
So will pausing between our, ever so busy lives and taking stock of the situation be a sign of weakness? Or would it simply be a sign that yes, we care?
